Riverhead Man Threatened To Burn Down Hampton Bays Bank, Police Said

A 55-year-old man was arrested for making a terroristic threat after allegedly threatening to burn down a TD Bank in Hampton Bays.

The Southampton Town Police Department arrested of John Hudson, of Riverhead, around 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, after he allegedly threatened to burn down a TD Bank in Hampton Bays, said Det. Lt. James Kiernan.

Police said Hudson allegedly made a call to TD Bank Central Call Center and threatened to set fire to the bank. When bank employees were alerted to this threat by the call center they started to take precautions by locking the doors until they noticed that Hudson was already in the bank, Kieran said.

Bank employees immediately called the Southampton Town Police. Officers and detectives arrived and after a brief investigation, Hudson was taken into custody.

Hudson had two legally possessed rifles in his vehicle along with ammunition which has been secured at police headquarters at this time, Kieran said.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Southampton Town Police Detective Division.

Hudson is being held for arraignment.
